Moves are stressful. Add in moving generations of belongings across the country, and it can be an emotional experience for anyone.

When U-Pack and ABF Freight employees made a difficult move easier for a family, customer Holley Clough was quick to praise them.

Even when a roadside emergency happens, ABF Freight finds a way to make on-time deliveries.

On a Thursday morning, a customer contacted Phil Atwell to see if ABF Freight could pick up a sizable shipment (six pallets totaling 11,300 pounds) in Michigan and get it delivered the next day in Sevierville, Tennessee, near Knoxville.

‘Excellent Service’ Pleases ABF Freight Customer

When a customer needed a shipment delivered sooner than planned, ABF Freight handled the request with ease.

A customer’s shipment was due to be delivered on a Monday, but on Wednesday, they contacted ABF Freight Operations Supervisor Bill Coombe asking if it instead could be delivered on Thursday.

Bill quickly traced the shipment and found it was scheduled to arrive Wednesday evening at an ABF Freight terminal 200 miles away. Bill assigned driver Daniel Swisher to pick up the shipment, and “he got the job done,” Bill said.

Shipping to Canada can be difficult for a shipper; it can even result in lost business without having a knowledgeable broker.

After a new customer began using ABF Freight to ship office furniture, Account Manager Jill Breen began talking about the customer’s Canadian shipments, and she explained ABF Freight’s capabilities into and out of Canada. She learned that if her customer’s Canadian customer did not have a broker, then they did not proceed with the sale. “It was simply a lost sales opportunity for them,” Jill said.

When a national retailer needed to roll out shipments to 928 stores in just 11 shipping days, ABF Freight® was prepared for the large task.

The shipper needed to follow a very specific plan to get four pallets to each store and was concerned about the loading process. Branch Manager Kraig Gratiot consulted with Dan Trevino, cargo care manager for the region, and they agreed to schedule a driver at the loading site for the entirety of the project.

ABF Freight customers can count on employees at all levels to take care of their merchandise throughout the entirety of a shipment process. 

While inspecting shipments on the dock at the Carlisle, Pennsylvania, terminal, Justin Montanez noticed the bottom of a crate had come loose. The crate contained large coils, which were secure at the top but not at the bottom or middle, allowing them to move back and forth and bang against each other inside the crate.
